Young, Cool and Free: The Nike Free Viritous and Socfly

For more than a decade, the Nike Free line has harnessed the natural motion of an athlete’s foot by creating shoes that bring wearers closer to the ground and more in tune with the body’s intuitive dynamic. From its running roots, this idea now extends beyond the track. Taking a performance approach to lifestyle design Nike Sportswear honors the essence of Nike Free with the Women’s Nike Free Viritous and Men’s Nike Free Socfly.

Women's Nike Free Viritous

Drawing inspiration from a popular antecedent of Nike Free — the 1991 Nike Air Huarache — the Nike Free Viritous reimagines the Free silhouette for hot climates. Constructed of breathable mesh reinforced with Nike Flywire, the upper allows for seamless flexibility, ventilation and a secure fit. Cooling ankle cutouts enhance the appeal, with inner-sleeve construction allowing for easy on/off.

Men's Nike Free Socfly

The Nike Free Socfly oozes simplicity. Like its predecessor, the pioneering 1986 Nike Sock Racer, the Socfly is stripped of unnecessary elements to act as a natural extension of the foot. A Velcro closure replaces laces for easy entry, while a seamless, breathable mesh upper is engineered for comfort and breathability. The iconic flexible Free 3.0, defined by its natural motion siping, works in concert with the foot.

The women’s Nike Free Viritous and men's Nike Free Socfly will be available on and at select Nike Sportswear retailers on April 2.
