New Hurley Phantom JJF II Boardshorts channel the unapologetic surf style of John John Florence.
Pro surfer John John Florence is renowned worldwide for his relentless pursuit of achieving the impossible. This dedication has earned him multiple global event wins and the unofficial title as the world’s most dynamic surfer. Moreover, it keeps Florence in search of bigger challenges in the world’s heaviest conditions, regularly confronting spots like the Pipeline on Oahu, his backyard.
Over the past three years, Florence has been particularly focused on a film project that has pushed him to extend his boundaries at his favorite global surf spots. During the journey, he wore the new Hurley Phantom JJF II Boardshorts, the latest addition to the award-winning Phantom lineage.
Designed for a new generation of surfers comfortable in any conditions, the shorts boast a 21-inch length for superior protection in powerful surf. Additionally, they are composed of a single, continuous piece of Phantom 60% stretch fabric, which enhances mobility for lightweight, in-water comfort. A minimal Hyperfuse waistband offers lockdown in turbulent waves.
“John John Florence’s style has had a massive impact on our design,” confirms Hurley Creative Director Ryan Hurley. “His style is powerful, natural, dynamic, completely unapologetic – and he does all of these things in the most diverse environments. We’re beginning to adapt our product solutions and engineer them to his exact specifications."
The Hurley Phantom JJF II Boardshorts also include a ciré interior for minimal chafing and an incorporated closure system, laser-cut from the waistband for reduced bulk and minimal distraction.
The Hurley Phantom JJF II will make its debut onscreen next month in John John Florence and Blake Vincent Kueny’s second film release, View From A Blue Moon, in association with the award-winning film studio Brain Farm. The first surf film shot entirely in 4K, View From A Blue Moon follows the surfer and his closest friends from the dreamy blue perfection of the South Pacific to uncharted breaks of Africa (and everywhere in between). Along the way, Florence faces a broad spectrum of emotions as he continues to seal his legacy as one of the most-gifted surfers ever. And while the young Hawaiian is pulled in increasingly different directions, there is no form of pressure that will keep him from his ultimate goal: to redefine what is possible in the ocean. Acclaimed actor John C. Reilly narrates the film.
