The Czech Republic’s most successful club Sparta Prague next season will play in a classic new home kit celebrating the team's 120th anniversary.
A clean, distinctive design takes the kit back to its roots with its traditional red color, which was first introduced in 1906. The allover red jersey has a white ribbed crossover V-neck collar and a white ribbed cuff on the sleeves. In addition to the club crest on the chest, a heritage badge with the dates 1893-2013 is placed in the center to mark the club's anniversary.
Inside the back of the neck is a bonded woven label bearing the proud message: “My Jsme Sparta” (We are Sparta).
The new home shorts are white with a thin red stripe along each side, and the socks are black with a red band at the top and a red block on the back designed to give players greater visual acuity on the pitch.
The new kit showcases Nike's commitment to provide players with the latest performance innovation and reduced impact on the environment.
The home kit continues to be made from Nike’s revolutionary recycled polyester, which reflects Nike’s commitment to producing athletic wear with a lower environmental impact. The shirt and shorts of each kit are made from up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles.
This pioneering process in which plastic bottles are melted down in to a yarn that is then spun in to recycled polyester reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing polyester.
Since 2010, Nike has diverted over 1.1 billion plastic bottles from landfills through our use of recycled polyester.
Fabric and Nike Dri-Fit
The kit is made of fabric weighing just 145 grams, which is 23% lighter than previous Nike kits. It also boasts a 20% stronger knit structure and a significantly improved stretch.
The fabric is integrated with Nike Dri-Fit technology, which draws away sweat from the body to keep them cool, dry and focused on their game.
There are also updated and improved ventilation zones consisting of tiny laser-cut holes on both sides of the shirt and on the waistband of the shorts, as well as a mesh across the entire back of the shirt to allow more air inside the kit for additional comfort and cooling.
Fit and construction
This season the home kit also has a more athletic and dynamic fit after Nike embarked on an innovative programme of 3D body scanning some of the world’s leading footballers so as to produce a design more tailored to the contours of their bodies.
The kit has been brilliantly crafted with bonded T-bars at the junctions of the shirts to support the seams, and inner welded seams with a clean finish to give a more striking appearance while also increasing comfort and performance.
