Sculpting Clay: NikeCourt Takes Shape in Paris

Tennis is played between the lines. But for those who love it—who live it—the sport has no borders. It is an omnipresent mindset, apparent as much on the court as it is on the street.

NikeCourt feeds this unrelenting appetite by serving the complete ceremony of tennis, from performance to lifestyle. It blends the irreverent spirit of the game's greats with the best of modern technology and style to push the sport and culture of tennis forward.

The payoff is footwear and apparel that equips athletes for on-court performance, practice and off-court sport style. Grigor Dimitrov embodies this complete expression of tennis. He will compete on the clay with the Nike Advantage Dri-FIT Cool Polo, practice in the NikeCourt French Stripe Tee and enjoy the sights of Paris in the NikeCourt Polo presented by NikeLab.

Athlete Looks

Much like the legends who have come before them, today’s greats compete with a fierce rebelliousness and irreverence. They own the courts they play on, demanding the attention of their opponents and capturing the imagination of their fans.

Their apparel and footwear play a key role in their performance. Below is a breakdown of some of the key products engineered to give athletes what they need to realize their full potential—and potentially bring home the ultimate clay court prize. Consistent throughout much of the collection are French Breton-inspired stripes, Nike Dri-FIT technology and silhouettes that aim to reduce restriction so athletes can compete with zero distraction.

RAFA NADAL

The reigning champion will battle for an historic 10th title in Paris while wearing the Nike Challenger Premier Rafa Crew, Nike Gladiator 7” Printed Shorts and the Nike Lunar Ballistic shoe. His on-court performance wear features a blue gradient, which is a nod to Nadal's favorite color when competing in Paris. When practicing, Nadal will don a NikeCourt French Stripe Tee and Nike Freestyle shorts.

GRIGOR DIMITROV

The dashing world No. 11 brings hunger, intensity and unmistakable style to the clay of Paris. He will compete in the Nike Advantage Dri-FIT Cool Polo and the Nike Gladiator 9” Printed Shorts. His footwear is the Nike Zoom Vapor Tour 9, customized on NIKEiD. During practice, Dimitrov will train in the NikeCourt French Stripe Tee and Nike Freestyle Shorts.

MARIA SHARAPOVA

The reigning champion of the French clay returns to Paris to defend her title wearing a dress that showcases the quintessentially French Breton stripe in a stylish and performance-driven silhouette.

VICTORIA AZARENKA

After missing the 2014 tournament in Paris due to an injury, Victoria Azarenka will take the court in 2015 in the Nike Advantage Dri-FIT Cool Tank paired with the Nike Victory Printed Skirt and Nike Zoom Cage 2.

Items from the summer 2015 NikeCourt collection will be available at select Nike retailers and on nike.com/tennis beginning May 20.
