The Jordan Why Not? Zer0.3, "Zer0 Noise"
Here's a typical scene in a Russell Westbrook highlight: he drives into the maw of the defense, floats in the air and makes a split-second decision. Does he finish at the rim, or dish the ball to an open teammate for the shot?
That hydra-like scenario is what evolves Westbrook's latest shoe, the Why Not? Zer0.3, satiating his reputation for dynamic athleticism and decisive style. It's a duality he channels every game. With the Why Not? Zer0.3, he wants to pass on that confidence to others, and especially to young people.
“I don’t take it for granted that I have my own shoe with the Jordan Brand, and I’m extremely excited about this one," says Westbrook. "Not only does it have a balance of great technology and style, but it represents more than just me. It represents hope and inspiration, and aims to instill belief in the youth.”
Speed
It’s the lightest shoe in Westbrook’s signature line
Westbrook wanted to be quick on his feet, so the Jordan Brand team reduced the number of layers and materials in the shoe, and introduced a lower collar.
It's lower to the ground than the Why Not? Zer0.2
The shoe sits closer to the court than the Zer0.2. The modified herringbone traction pattern helps respond to Westbrook's low, explosive movement.
It has the largest Zoom Air Bag in a Why Not? Zer0 signature shoe
The articulated Zoom Air in the forefoot has horizontal flex grooves that promote linear, end-to-end speed and a propulsive feel.
Style
The decoupled outsole is a nod to one of his favorite Air Jordans
Designed by Tinker Hatfield and Josh Heard, the Air Jordan XXVIII included the first Air Jordan outsole to separate the forefoot and the heel, while the upper was inspired by Italian tailoring.
It has new aesthetic touches
A TPU midfoot strap provides a new stylistic flourish to the Westbrook line. A new crest on the shoe, pointing out members of Westbrook's family, is on the tongue.
It launches next to a new apparel collection
The Why Not? apparel collection features graphics, scattered atypically throughout the pieces, that are inspired by Westbrook’s love for the game as it continues to expand globally.
Behind The Colorways
Each colorway has a special meaning for Westbrook. The launch colorway of the Jordan Why Not? Zer0.3, "Zer0 Noise," represents Russell Westbrook channeling his passion for the game to drown out distractions on the court. He wants others to do the same.
"The Family" colorway is inspired by the closest people in his life, who help him stay focused on the task at hand. The shoe also includes a new family crest on the tongue.
Drawn from the women in Westbrook's family, the "Heartbeat" colorway features hues that honor his twin daughters, the pink modeled after the color in their bedroom. A shout-out from Westbrook, the colorway reminds girls everywhere to own their power and follow their dreams.
The Zer0 Noise, Heartbeat and The Family launch colorways release January 2, January 9 and February 27, respectively, on Jordan.com and at select retailers. The apparel collection releases January 1 on Jordan.com and at select Foot Locker House of Hoops locations. Zer0 Noise and The Family colorways are available in full-family sizing.
