Paul Pierce celebrates launch of Nike signature kids-only shoe

BOSTON (26 January, 2005) – To celebrate the launch of his signature kids-only basketball shoe, Boston Celtic standout and NBA All-Star Paul Pierce will make a special guest appearance at NIKETOWN Boston on Sunday, January 31 at 6:00 pm.

The event will focus on the importance of kids being active and staying healthy with a “question and answer” session with Pierce as well as a demonstration of fitness tips and activities.

“I’m very honored to be selected as Nike’s first athlete with a kids-only shoe,” said Pierce. “I love children and it’s important to me that they have role models to look up to. I hope that I will inspire them to be and stay active and make healthy choices so they can hopefully live longer and more fulfilling lives.”

To help support Pierce and his message of the importance of physical activity, NikeGO will sponsor an “enter to win” contest in which NikeGO will donate $1000 worth of Nike gear to the winner’s school. In addition, for each Paul Pierce shoe try on, NikeGO will donate one pair of shoes to the Boys and Girls Club of Boston.
