In a display that impressed with its innovation and comprehension, Nike introduced its new Spring 2015 women’s collection today in New York. It features footwear and apparel that cater to every element of women’s athletic lifestyle, from early-morning yoga to late-night runs. Innovations across Flyknit footwear, sports bras, materials and tights highlight the collection.
Nike’s Flyknit technology has revolutionized the age-old craft of shoemaking. Instead of being pieced together through traditional cut-and-sew methods, a Flyknit shoe’s upper is knit with strands of yarn. The result is incredibly light and incredibly strong footwear, as well as significant reduction in waste. On average, Flyknit reduces upper waste by approximately 72 percent compared to conventional constructed uppers.
Flyknit also allows remarkable precision in shoe design, incorporating areas of stretch, support and breathability where athletes need them most. The technology is available in three key styles in Spring 2015: the running Nike Flyknit Lunar 3, the training Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility, and the Sportswear Nike Roshe Flyknit.
Nike Flyknit Lunar 3
The Nike Flyknit Lunar 3 marries a Flyknit upper with a soft and responsive Lunarlon midsole to give runners an ultra-light plush and responsive ride. The evolved upper design features Flyknit with a tighter knit structure in the heel for support and a looser knit structure in the forefoot for increased breathability, stretch and support. The midsole features reformatted Lunarlon cushioning that delivers a lighter, more responsive plush ride. The Nike Flyknit Lunar 3 will be available beginning Feb. 12, 2015 in six different colors for women.
Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility
The Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility brings together two of Nike’s most innovative technologies—Flyknit and Zoom Air—to create a training shoe that delivers the flexibility, strength and quickness athletes desire. The Flyknit upper acts like a second skin, allowing the foot to move as nature intended. Designers looked to mirror the upper’s flexibility with a flexible application of Zoom Air in the outsole. The Zoom Air bags are placed in hexagonal rubber pods and strategically positioned to provide cushioning and responsiveness where the female athlete feels the most pressure underfoot. The Nike Flyknit Zoom Agility will be available beginning Feb. 12, 2015.
Nike Roshe Flyknit
The Nike Roshe was born from a “less is more” design ethos. Beginning in Spring 2015, the popular Sportswear shoe takes that philosophy a step further by introducing Flyknit to the women’s silhouette. Flyknit creates a lightweight upper that partners naturally with the one-piece Phylon midsole/outsole. The Nike Roshe Flyknit will be available beginning Feb. 5, 2015.
Delivering zero distraction is a fundamental priority of Nike design. Material innovation is critical to creating apparel that is not only soft to the touch, but that also delivers moisture management and thermoregulation.
Nike Dri-FIT Knit
Nike Dri-FIT Knit technology exemplifies the zero-distraction approach. Material is knitted using circular tubes, which reduces the number of seams necessary to construct the garment. Fewer seams lead to less potential for chafing, or distraction. In addition, with Dri-FIT Knit, designers can precisely engineer in stretch, warming and cooling exactly where the athlete needs it most. Like all Dri-FIT technology, Dri-FIT Knit wicks sweat away from the skin to help keep the athlete dry and comfortable. The running Nike Dri-FIT Knit LS shirt and training Nike Dri-FIT Knit Sleeveless tee will be available beginning in January 2015.
Nike Tech Aeroshield
Sportswear’s Nike Tech Pack returns with a solution for the mild months of spring. Nike Tech Aeroshield features a new fabrication, highlighted by internal flocking nodes that work to maximize space between the garment’s outer shell and the wearer’s skin. Combined with Tech Aeroshield’s laser-perforated ventilation, the flocking allows air to circulate more freely, helping keep the wearer cool and comfortable. The garment’s outer shell is constructed of high denier, woven nylon, which provides a light, comfortable and breathable solution to traditional nylon construction. The Nike Tech Moto Jacket, the first women’s silhouette to feature Tech Aeroshield, will be available beginning Feb. 12, 2015.
Tights are a pinnacle example of how Nike design blends performance and style. They combine technical performance features with bold print and color applications to enable the athlete to express her creativity, strength and style.
Nike Epic Lux Printed Tight
The Nike Epic Lux Printed Tight offers solutions specific to the needs of runners. It features a wide elastic waistband and internal drawcord, ensuring that she can focus on mile two of her half marathon, not the fit of her tights. A zippered back pocket serves to house personal items such as keys, and reflective elements provide enhanced visibility for runs in low-light conditions. The tight’s soft Dri-FIT fabric works to pull sweat away from the skin to help keep her dry and comfortable, while ventilation is built into key sweat zones to provide cooling. The Nike Epic Lux Printed Tight will be available beginning Jan. 8, 2015.
Nike Legendary Lava Tight
The Nike Legendary Lava Tight infuses new print and color into one of Nike’s most popular tight franchises. Like all Legendary tights, it features a high waistband for optimal coverage. The ultra-soft and compressive nylon fabric helps provide comfort and an enhanced fit. The tight’s extremely vibrant color is achieved through a process called digital direct printing, which prints art directly onto the fabric. In addition to the bolder color application, the technology delivers precise print placements that flatter the female form. The Nike Legendary Lava Tight will be available beginning Jan. 8, 2015.
Nike Legging T2
Comfort is critical in all Nike tights, especially those in the Sportswear family. The Nike Legging T2 provides comfort for all-day wear with a brushed elastic waistband and a soft cotton finish. The burnout pattern that runs down the side of the tight couples with stirrups to deliver a fresh aesthetic. The Nike Legging T2 will be available beginning Jan. 8, 2015.
Nike Pro Bra Collection
First introduced in July 2014, the Nike Pro Bra Collection returns with key updates. The Nike Pro Rival Bra, which delivers the most support in the collection, now features A-cup sizes in addition to the current B-E selection. This extends the number of available sizes from 25 to 29, helping the athlete find her perfect fit.
Beginning in March 2015, the Nike Pro Bra Collection will expand to include the Nike Pro Hero Bra. Like the Pro Rival Bra, this high-support offering features tightly-knit nylon fabric with appropriate stretch and modulus for increased support and a consistent, compression fit. However, unique to the Pro Hero Bra is a u-back design with a hook-and-eye closure for easy on and off. The bra also features migrated thickness in the adjustable shoulder straps to provide extra comfort and a custom fit. It will be available in 20 sizes, ranging from 30C to 38E.
The Nike Pro Bra Collection is the result of more than two years of research, testing, design and development. With the addition of the Pro Power Bra, the collection features six bras that offer a continuum of support, helping provide the athlete with the right fit and right support.
