Inspired by run crew culture and marathons, the Nike x Rostarr collection merges the artist’s calligraphy-inspired drawings with favorites from Nike running footwear and apparel. Working with Nike designers, Rostarr approached the collection as a blank canvas, creating pieces that appear to be in forward motion.
“This project is about isolating the energy that happens when you run with a big group of people,” says Rostarr. “I tried to capture the rhythm and feeling of movement created when people run a race–that surge of energy.”
To create one of the exclusive prints for the collection, Rostarr used his signature sweeping brushstrokes to design a pattern of abstract runners. The result is a wave of runners crossing the finish line.
The black-and-white collection includes tanks, tees, the Nike Impossibly Light jacket and the Nike Epic Lux tight for both men and women.
For footwear, runners can choose from the Nike Free RN, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 33, the Nike LunarGlide 8 and the Nike Air Zoom Structure 20.
The Nike x Rostarr Running Collection is available October 20 at global retailers worldwide and on nike.com.
