Today, Nike opened its newest factory store in Lubbock, Texas, which draws inspiration from local sport culture, with special emphasis on the area’s deep roots in football. Amid local imagery in the store is a declaration to be “Texas Tested,” which responds to the the famous suggestion that if you can pass the Texas test, you can pass any test.
“The Lubbock store was created to celebrate and fuel the area’s passion for sports by giving the community access to Nike premium products and services in a store that feels unique to the city,” says Dennis van Oossanen, Vice President of Nike North America Direct to Consumer.
While football is the heartbeat of Lubbock, the new Nike store supports athletes from all sports and features a large multipurpose outdoor sport court, where the store athletes will host programs devised to encourage local kids to get active. The hallway leading to the sport court features a variety of local imagery, and the famed “Just Do It” slogan frames the court.
The grand opening featured the marching band and cheerleaders from a local Lubbock high school, which is also featured in imagery throughout the store.
