NIKE, Inc. to cease operations at Niketown Orange County
January 03, 2005
Beaverton, Ore. (3 January, 2005) - Today NIKE, Inc. announces its plans to cease operations at NikeTown, Orange County on January 30th, 2005. Opened in 1993, the store at Triangle Square Mall in Orange County was one of the first NikeTowns—the company’s premiere retail space for showcasing innovative products and deepening Nike’s connection to consumers. In recent years, however, the mall has experienced low tenant occupancy. As such, Nike believes that the closure of the store is in the best interest of the brand. We will continue to serve Orange County consumers through NikeTown Los Angeles, nikewomen stores in Orange County (Newport Beach and Costa Mesa), nike.com and existing partners at retail.
Nike will support affected employees by offering all store associates competitive severance packages, in accordance with our guidelines and California labor laws. In addition, we encourage individuals to identify opportunities that fit their experience within the Company and apply accordingly.
