Athletes constantly chase their potential. They seek information, motivation and the gear to give them an edge over the competition – even if competing against their own latest personal record. They want more than just tools and apps; they want personalized support, unforgettable experiences and the inspiration to do one more lap, one more crunch or one more marathon.
There’s one digital community that delivers those benefits and more: Nike+.
Launched in 2006, Nike+ has motivated, inspired and connected athletes to a global community of sport through physical events and digital connections. The Nike+ ecosystem includes events like the Nike Women’s Race Series and N+TC Tour, micro-communities such as local Nike+ Run Clubs, digital training tools like Nike+ Running and Nike+ Training Club Apps, and members-only benefits from pre-sales and private events to behind-the-scenes access to athletes.
In 2015, the opportunities to engage with the Nike+ community continue to multiply. Being a member of Nike+ has never been more rewarding and exciting as the global community adds more exclusive events, connected devices, product launches and other benefits.
ELEVATING THE NIKE+ RUN CLUB EXPERIENCE
The Nike+ community reaches around the globe, yet Nike+ Run Clubs focus on camaraderie, coaching and encouragement at the local level. Each Nike+ Run Club chapter offers free running and training sessions to inspire Nike+ members to run their first, fastest or most fun run with the support of Nike coaches, trainers and pacers.
On March 8, Nike will roll out elevated Nike+ Run Clubs around the world to provide runners of all levels with more comprehensive running programming. The updated Nike+ Run Club will offer a variety of running and training options for every level of runner. The programs will merge the best of Nike+ Running and Nike+ Training Club digital services, live experiences and expert coaching and pacers to improve the performance of any athlete.
This spring kicks off a new season of programming in Berlin, Boston, New York, London, Los Angeles, Paris and Toronto with more programs to go live globally throughout the summer in global cities - from Austin, Chicago, Eugene, Orange County, Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Westport in North America; and in Amsterdam, Milan, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Rome and Sao Paulo.
Details on this season’s Nike+ Run Club programming will be available at nike.com/NRC on March 7. Each week, Nike+ Run Clubs post their calendars online, where Nike+ members can reserve their session spots for the week. In cities where Nike doesn’t currently offer Nike+ Run Clubs, Nike+ members can still enjoy the benefits of Nike+ Running and Nike+ Training Club digital services and expert support and coaching via the live chat feature on nike.com.
NEW PARTNERS EXPAND NIKE+ ACCESS
Whether a runner is prepping for his or her first 5K or 10th marathon, the Nike+ Running app is a personalized way for athletes to train smarter, track and share runs, and achieve their goals. The app measures distance, pace, time, calories and NikeFuel. It also includes motivational options such as social media sharing, real-time audio feedback, a Nike+ PowerSong option for an extra push, and Nike+ Challenges to add a little competition among friends.
After months of collaboration, Nike is launching partnerships with industry-leading companies — Garmin, TomTom, Wahoo Fitness and Netpulse — allowing more runners to connect their favorite devices and fitness equipment to the Nike+ platform.
Registration opens March 9th for the Nike Women Toronto 15k and NTC Tour Los Angeles on nike.com/women/events.
