Breaking Down The Nike App at Retail

No matter how quickly technology finds its way into brick-and-mortar stores, there are still  unique ways that retail and digital can come together to provide a better shopping experience. The new Nike App at Retail was designed to intuitively bridge the worlds of tech and physical retail, all through the power of your smartphone (and all at your nearest Nike store). Read more to learn three questions answered by the Nike App at Retail, bringing a new level of service into your Nike store and transforming your phone into the ultimate shopping companion.

Question #1: How do I know if my size or favorite style is in store?

Answer: Reserve

Shoppers can now browse and reserve products that are immediately available at their nearest Nike store. Not only can you know before you go, but you make sure that must-have shoe is waiting for you when you arrive. Products will be available for pickup the same day upon your reservation, and in certain locations, held in a Nike Locker for easy pickup with your Nike Pass. (The digital lockers are only at Nike by Melrose). A push notification will tell you when your gear is ready to be picked up. No longer do you need to cross your fingers when you walk into a store. Your purchase is already there, waiting for you.

Question #2: How will I be rewarded for using my app?

Answer: NikePlus Instant Unlocks

NikePlus members are given the best of Nike product, exclusive discounts, and partner rewards for their shopping activity in the Nike App. You might receive one instantly from a Nike athlete helping you in the store, or even before you walk through the door – a push notification in the Nike App will alert you of instant bonus savings and rewards.

Question #3: How can I get help from a store employee, but only when I need it?

Answer: Nike Scan

Want to get in and get out? NikePlus members can scan barcodes using the Nike app to learn more about any product, discover available sizes and colors, and see real-time inventory online and in-store,  Like to try on a pair of shoes and don’t want to wait? Request a try-on and directly  connect to a Nike athlete to bring out your perfect size. Whether you like to self-serve, or want the help of a Nike expert, the power is yours using the Nike App at Retail.

Reserve, Instant Unlocks and Nike Scan are currently being piloted at Nike Santa Monica, The Grove and Nike Portland, and will be available at Nike’s newest retail concept, Nike Live, at Nike by Melrose upon its opening on July 12.

And this is just the beginning. Additional Nike App at Retail features will be available later this year, including at the Nike NYC flagship store (opening fall 2018), before being scaled to all Nike Stores in locations where the Nike App is available. New features include shopping entire looks on in-store mannequins via Nike Scan and Instant Checkout, allowing NikePlus members to skip the lines and enabling digital checkout.
