World-class action at 2015 Quai 54 World Streetball Championship, on iconic Place de La Concorde.
The atmosphere in Paris was electric yesterday with the conclusion of this year’s Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball-hosted Quai 54 World Streetball Championship, and will remain with Jordan Brand's gift of a permanent mark on the city following the opening of the Jordan Legacy Court.
Basketball has been inspiring the city’s population for decades, and the Jordan Legacy Court, located in the 20th arrondissement, was opened in conjunction with the Mayor of Paris’ Office to encourage future generations to elevate their game.
2015’s Quai 54 tournament attracted vast numbers of spectators throughout the weekend, and the Place de la Concorde public square was busier than ever as teams from the USA, UK, Guinea, Spain, Latvia, Croatia, Netherlands, Belgium, China and France all represented in a bid to take the crown from the French ‘Hood Mix 2.0’ crew. With Chicago’s ‘Chi-League All Stars’ and Rucker Park’s EBC defending champs ‘Team Ooh Way’ in the mix, this year’s event was a perfect showcase of the world’s best streetball talent.
After taking on some incredibly tough competition, the all-French Final saw 'La Relève' Yard beat 'Fusion Team' to be crowned victors of the 12th edition of this global tournament.
The Quai 54 Dunk Contest Presented by House of Hoops was another high-flying crowdpleaser. There was plenty of history in the competition a a former victor, Justin ‘Just Fly’ from Canada, returned to Paris on a mission to take back a win from last year’s champion, Poland’s Rafael ‘Lipek’ Lipinski. After some staggering aerial displays the Polish Champion took home the trophy for the second time in a row.
Quai 54 competitors were equipped with the latest footwear innovations from Nike Basketball and Jordan Brand. Special-edition Quai 54 Air Jordan XX9 and Nike LEBRON Soldier 9 graced the court, bringing both style and performance to proceedings.
Completing another incredible climax, the competition included a special performance from Les Twins as part of a soundtrack that matched the energy on court.
