As newly minted All-Star Andre Drummond proudly declares, “Jordan Brand is a powerhouse.” Next Sunday, Drummond will join six other Jordan Brand athletes on the court in Toronto and will also participate in Saturday's exhilarating dunk contest. In anticipation of the occasion, he reflects on the road to All-Star recognition and where he hopes it will lead.
"It was an overwhelming feeling to be named an All-Star; my main goal has been to play in that Sunday game. My mom was with me when I found out. She’s ecstatic! My little sister is very excited for me as well. We are just waiting for the day," says Drummond.
"I’ve worked so hard all summer, on being able to use both hands, attacking people from the elbow and being more aggressive with the ball. To be recognized for my hard work is incredible beyond words.
Making the All-Star team is one goal that can be marked off the list – my next goal is to be in the playoffs. Detroit is a basketball town, and we are on a come-up right now. However, I know I will have to take it up a notch after All-Star weekend and try to lead my team to the post-season."
