Aqua, orange and white were new to football when the Miami Dolphins hit the gridiron in 1966. To commemorate the Dolphins' 50th season, the franchise refreshes its original uniform composition — a solid aqua jersey, punctuated by white and orange numbers and arm stripes, paired to white pants — by bringing the iconic look to the NFL Nike Elite 51 Uniform.
The Dolphins will wear the throwback uniforms on December 14, 2015, at home against the New York Giants. The only other time the Dolphins have dressed in a vintage look was for a 40-21 Thanksgiving Day win at Dallas on Nov. 27, 2003, which helped to celebrate the achievements of the franchise's 1973 championship team.
The fan jerseys will be available for purchase on Nike.com and in select retailers beginning Wednesday, July 29.
