French Champions Paris Saint-Germain add Nike Dark Light to their 2015-16 kit line-up, infusing the City of Light (La Ville Lumière) with a distinct, dark aesthetic.
Detailing on the torso, sleeves and lower back accentuates the players’ powerful presence, while a modern take on the club’s famed crest – reimagined in black, white and grey – sits proudly on the chest.
Subtle dark grey shading trims the back of the shirt’s V-neck collar and runs in a stripe down each flank, continuing onto the shorts. The dark hue also distinguishes chevrons along the length of the calf.
Contrasting with the dark base, flashes of bright pink impart a youthful edge. Player names and numbers are rendered in a textured typeface comprised of two shades of the color.
These accents extend to the full Nike Dark Light apparel collection, including the Nike F.C. Banner Tee, Paris Saint-Germain Crest Tee and a special edition Nike Pro Combat baselayer that will not be worn in competitive action by Paris Saint-Germain but is available for fans.
The imposing, dominant aesthetic with which Nike Dark Light outfits Paris Saint-Germain is brought to life in a Mathieu Cesar-directed and Kavinsky-soundtracked short film starring David Luiz, Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Silva, Edinson Cavani and Marquinhos.
Paris Saint-Germain will wear Nike Dark Light for a number of vital matches throughout the 2015-16 campaign.
The 2015-16 Nike Dark Light kit will be available exclusively in-store from colette (213 Rue Saint Honoré, Paris) starting 5pm CET on September 9; via the Nike Football App at the same time; for pre-order from Nike.com and PSG.fr starting September 10; and in Nike and Paris Saint-Germain stores starting September 12.
Fans in Paris who order their customised Nike Dark Light shirt via the Nike Football App on September 9 will have their order delivered to them within 90 minutes – an exclusive service for Nike Football App users.
This kit represents visually powerful football apparel designed with both style and performance in mind.
NIKE DRI-FIT TECHNOLOGY
Nike Dri-FIT technology draws sweat away from the body to the exterior of the shirts and shorts, where it quickly evaporates. This allows players to perform at their best by remaining cooler, drier and more comfortable.
Ventilation holes and zoned mesh panels in key areas of the kit are designed to help improve performance by increasing air circulation to the players’ bodies and helping regulate their temperatures.
SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION: ONE TEAM, 200 BOTTLES
Nike places sustainable innovation at the heart of its kits through the use of recycled polyester, delivering unrivaled performance and lower environmental impact. Each piece of the kit – shirt, shorts and socks – is constructed with recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles melted down to produce a fine yarn.
When the team steps on the pitch they will collectively be wearing the equivalent of at least 200 plastic bottles; each kit uses a minumum of 18 recycled plastic bottles.
Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than two billion plastic bottles from landfills into recycled polyester – enough to cover about 3,500 football pitches. By using recycled polyester, Nike is also reducing the energy consumed in the manufacturing process by up to 30 percent compared to virgin polyester.
