Converse Rubber Tracks Hits Europe

Today, Converse Inc. announces its first-ever Amsterdam Converse Rubber Tracks pop-up studio, open 25 July to 1 Aug., offering local musicians the opportunity to record for free. The Converse Rubber Tracks pop-up studio will be staged at the Amsterdam Recording Company, located on the Java-Eiland in the north of the city, offering eight lucky acts a full-day recording session under the guidance of expert technicians.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Converse Rubber Tracks experience to the European market for the first time and to be useful to the music community on an international scale,” said Geoff Cottrill, Converse CMO. “Amsterdam plays host to a dynamic and international creative scene,” said Strick Walker, Converse EMEA Brand Director. “We look forward to connecting more deeply with this local culture and celebrating the talent that makes this city so special.”

Over the past two years, Converse has brought the Converse Rubber Tracks experience to great music cities such as Toronto, Austin, Montreal, Los Angeles and most recently San Francisco, giving more than 500 artists valuable studio time in state-of-the-art facilities. The Converse Rubber Tracks program was born out of the brand’s desire to give back to the music community and provide a platform for emerging artists to express their creativity. Converse’s ongoing commitment to music is also portrayed through its ongoing work with the 100 Club in London, the Make Noise platform in Spain, and Red Light Radio in Amsterdam – an independent online radio station that broadcasts from the heart of the infamous Red Light District.

Through its long-term creative partnership with Red Light Radio, Converse presents the Converse Red Light Sessions — a series of intimate live recordings that provides opportunities for both renowned and emerging artists to showcase their music in a unique environment. Since October 2012, the collaborative program has featured performances by a diverse range of artists including Jacco Gardner, Heems (Das Racist) and Charanjit Singh, while a four-day showcase at the FADER Fort during this year’s SXSW saw shows from the likes of Allah-Las, Traumahelikopter and The Bots. Red Light Radio will host a celebratory Converse Red Light Session at their Oudekerksplein complex on 1 Aug., uniting a roster of Converse Rubber Tracks participants with special guests to close the Converse Rubber Tracks Amsterdam experience in style.
