“We built Converse Essentials to be better with time,” says John Colonna, Global VP/GM Apparel & Accessories, Converse. “For example, over the years a deep navy will fade to a light navy; a black will fade to charcoal. And because we use a light-tensile polyester thread against the 100% cotton fleece, a beautiful contrast develops between the fabrics.”
That contrast is evident in the limited edition Converse Essentials x Fragment collection, which highlighted the Converse Essentials Apparel launch and the collection’s broader aging potential this past fall. It is testament to the level of craft and technical attributes of the pieces: 360gram legacy loopback fleece and a 4-needle flat lock stitch construction — the hallmarks of classic quality.
New for Spring 2017, Converse introduces a short-sleeve crewneck and shorts for men. In addition to the short-sleeve crewneck and shorts, Converse is offering new seasonal colorways for both men and women. These fresh silhouettes expand the Converse Essentials collection and fleece mainstays —long sleeve crewneck, tee, pull-over hoodie, full-zip hoodie, pant and backpack. The pre-washed material minimizes shrinking, allowing for confidence to wash again and again to reach a perfect, individualized patina.
The same intricate and thoughtful detail brought to the clothing is found in the Converse Essentials accessories. The rubber-backed canvas Converse Essentials Backpack is stacked with a Neoprene lined backside laptop sleeve, inner scratch resistant media pouch and water resistant front pocket. Its been updated for spring with new Fatigue, Navy and Sand color options.
The Spring 2017 Converse Essentials collection will be available starting February 7 at Converse retail stores, Converse.com, and select retailers. Colors include Soar, Fatigue, Black, light heather grey for men and Ultra Red & Teal for women.
