Built with weather protection in mind, the Converse Jack Purcell x Hancock Wetland sneaker’s upper is partially covered with a rubber in Hancock’s signature Mastic Grey color to ensure for water-repellence. With the added benefit of a dual layer vulcanized textile for further weather protection, the upper is designed to help brave the elements. Inspired by Thomas Hancock’s original patent, it also features a subtle zipper closure that allows for customizable wear.
The Converse Jack Purcell x Hancock collection also reintroduces the mid silhouette in two fresh colorways: Black and Military Green. Complete with Hancock’s Siphonia Elastica graphic rubber plant print in the sneakers’ sock liner, both the mid and Wetland styles feature the classic Jack Purcell smile on the toe cap and a custom topped eyelet in mastic gray.
Hancock Vulcanised Articles (HVA) is a modern luxury lifestyle label that offers contemporary rubber bonded outerwear, crafted using original techniques that date back to the 19th century. All pieces are hand-cut with shears, and seams are bonded manually with a secret traditional glue recipe. Founded in 2012 by Daniel Dunko and Gary Bott, the brand draws inspiration from Thomas Hancock; the British inventor who sparked a rubber revolution and pioneered waterproofing techniques for fabrics that are still used to this day. All articles are handmade by two generations of expert coat makers at their factory in Scotland.
