The Anatomy Of Jun Takahashi’s Radical Gyakusou Hooded Jacket

Undercover founder Jun Takahashi’s Nike Gyakusou Collection is all about helping runners achieve a Zen-like focus by finding design solutions for common distractions. The latest apparel, available now on, tackles the warm-weather problems — flash rains, steamy temperatures and more — by mixing new fabric technologies and savvy functionality.

The best example is the radical Gyakusou Hooded Jacket, which converts from a sleeved covering to breathable vest on the fly. Here’s how it breaks down:

Here are some other highlights from the collection.

Nike Gyakusou Short Sleeve Packable Jacket

The hooded pullover features shorter sleeves and a half-zip entry. Though lightweight, the material offers protection from wind and water. Elastic around the hood, waist and cuffs helps keep things in place. Mesh inserts at the underarms and back vent. Stash stuff in the zippered pockets. Reflective graphics help to keep you visible in dark or dreary weather.

Nike Gyakusou Dri-FIT Tank

Dri-FIT fabric wicks moisture away from the body. Perforation (placed in all the right spots thanks to data from body maps) helps to disperse heat and moisture. It also features glow-in-the-dark and reflective graphics.

Nike Gyakusou Shorts

A high-stretch Dri-FIT compression layer sits below woven outer shorts to give you support and coverage. The breathable center gusset vents. Adjust fit via the internal drawcord. Rear pockets have various closures for simple storage. And of course, there are reflective graphics.
