Jordan Brand Holiday Retro Releases

September 23, 2020 - The Jordan Brand Holiday 2020 Retro Footwear Collection combines rich history with high-tech construction to boldly connect the past to the future. Four iterations of the Air Jordan I and multiple women’s-exclusive styles are among the highlights.

Air Jordan I Retro HI OG CO.JP
First released in 2001, accompanying the Metallic Silver Air Jordan I HI OG CO.JP, the Midnight Navy colorway returns for a global release. One of the first HI OGs to use Navy coloring, this model was popular with skateboarders and worn by Nike SB athletes when Nike SB first formed in the early 2000s. The shoe features a metallic silver Swoosh and a jewel-finished Wings logo, and releases in full family sizing.

Women’s Air Jordan I HI OG
Inspired by MJ’s iconic 63-point playoff game in Boston in 1986, the Women’s Air Jordan I HI OG focuses on progress, not perfection. The shoe flaunts a raw construction with unstitched eyelets and rich, genuine matted Lucky Green leather. The shoe, which comes in full family sizing, also features a parquet floor-inspired insole reminiscent of the old Boston court.

Air Jordan I Retro HI OG
This Air Jordan I HI OG employs a new twist on a familiar color scheme: Dark Mocha. A colorway with rich history in the Jordan Brand, the crisp color blocking on genuine nubuck leather gives this model a clean and classic look. The shoe comes in men’s and grade school sizing.

Air Jordan I Retro HI OG
Straight from the vault, this HI OG takes inspiration from an elusive Friends and Family Air Jordan I in the 1980s that later came to life in 2003 as an Air Jordan I Mid. At the time, that Mid was amongst the first patent leather Air Jordan Is released from Jordan Brand. An OG satin woven label and glossy black and gold patent leather cover the model from heel to toe. It will be available in men’s and grade school sizing.

Air Jordan III Retro
Releasing outside of North America, this take on the Air Jordan III employs a black genuine leather upper with accents of purple and orange on the midsole, ankle and tongue. Gray cement elephant print finishes the look.

Air Jordan IV Retro
The classic returns with OG color blocking, shape and details loyal to its original 1989 specs. The shoe comes with a Nike Air hangtag and OG packaging and releases in full family sizing.

Air Jordan IV
Dressed in a combination of canvas and twill materials assembled in quilt-like patchwork fashion, this take on the Air Jordan IV features beautiful prints and textures inspired by Japanese craftwork and design. The model releases outside of North America.

Air Jordan V What The
Continuing the celebration of the Air Jordan V’s 30-year anniversary, this “What The” edition of the iconic model mixes a variety of the silhouette’s past non-OG colorways and material plays including the Jordan V “Tokyo,” “Raging Bull,” “Green Bean,” “Army Olive” and “Quai 54,” among others. The shoes are completed by embroidered logos from the “Shanghai” and “Tokyo” colorways. The model releases in men’s and grade school sizing.

Women’s Air Jordan VIII
This Women’s Air Jordan VIII features the iconic chenille fabric patch on the tongue, smooth premium and suede leather, and is draped in rich Burgundy, a color deeply rooted in Jordan Brand history.

Air Jordan XII Retro
Flipping the iconic black and red colors of the OG, this take on the Air Jordan XII puts a subtle color twist on the classic model. The shoe features a genuine red suede upper, an OG faux lizard-print mudguard, a woven label and is topped off with matte chrome finishes on the eyelets. The shoe also comes in OG packaging and releases in full family sizing.

Air Jordan XII Retro
Another fresh spin on a classic model, this Air Jordan XII combines iconic Concord purple, a color rich in Jumpman history, with a genuine black suede upper. The model comes with an OG faux lizard-print mudguard, chrome finished eyelets and a woven label. The shoe releases in men’s and grade school sizing.

Air Jordan XIII Retro
This refreshed take on the Air Jordan XIII employs a black reflective textile upper with Hyper Royal accents and detailing. With a microfiber tongue and familiar holographic eye, this model comes with OG packaging and releases in full family sizing.

The Jordan Brand Retro Collection will be available this fall on SNKRS.

Slam Jam Brings a Subtle Rebelliousness to the Dunk

September 21, 2020 - An upside-down Nike logo appears prominently on the tongue of the Nike Slam Jam Dunk. The modification reflects the Italian powerhouse's subversive nature, and what has made it a leader in street culture for more than 30 years.

Since its founding in 1989, Slam Jam has been dedicated to what it calls the “global underground.” Explicitly, its stores in the Ferrara headquarters and Milan are a conduit for the varied outputs of multiple subcultures, materialized in clothing but defined by a rebellious attitude.

For owner Luca Benini, the Nike Dunk fits naturally in the Slam Jam ethos. “I remember one of my first contacts with the Dunk happened thanks to the Air Jordan I when they came out in 1985. I then discovered its inspirational role,” says Benini.

The Dunk's debut coincided with the now iconic “Be True to Your School” advertising campaign. It became a cult favorite of skateboarders and, later, vintage sneaker collectors. By the late ’90s, the Dunk was worn by people in the club, graffiti, skateboarding and fashion scenes, becoming standard uniform in the burgeoning streetwear community.

“The Dunk had a strong impact for sure, acting as one of those elements helping global connections to shape and develop the now-called street culture,” says Benini.

Slam Jam's Dunk follows the shoe's history as both a team shoe and a catalyst for design experimentation. The subversive tone of the upside-down Swoosh is reinforced by transparent, gummy Swooshes that touch at the heel in a unique branding element. Translucent soles tie naturally to the material makeup, and a playful reinterpretation of the Dunk's traditional perforation adds a subtle new ingredient.

“This Dunk expresses the values of simplicity and the attention to innovative details, which alongside our rebel attitude, define the Slam Jam DNA,” says Benini of the design.

The Nike Dunk Slam Jam in light gray releases October 3 exclusively across Slam Jam doors, via raffle at slamjam.com and on SNKRS. The black colorway releases October 30 at select retailers worldwide.

Jordan Spizike 270 Boot Debuts with the Holiday 2020 Jordan Brand Modern Offering

September 18, 2020 - The Jordan Brand Holiday 2020 modern collection blends Jumpman heritage with futuristic design. Three silhouettes are featured: Jordan Spizike 270 Boot, Jordan Delta and Jordan Zoom ’92.

Jordan Spizike 270 Boot
Combining elements from various Air Jordan models, the Spizike 270 Boot infuses Jumpman heritage with modern comfort and utility. A Nike Air Max 270 Air bag provides all-day comfort and winterized materials allow for uncompromised outdoor use. Four seasonal color pairings, which accentuate the durable construction, are offered as the silhouette’s initial drop: lighter tans and browns accented with touches of black and red, dark brown tones, triple black and a Nike ACG-inspired iteration with bright pops of color on a gray base.

Jordan Delta
Blending high-end craftsmanship with high-tech construction, the Jordan Delta is offered in two men’s colorways this winter. One is inspired by the bold colors of Nike ACG, while the second is an alternate take on Jordan Brand’s timeless black and red colorway using various hues of gray with Bright Crimson and white. Two Women’s Delta iterations also release this holiday season: a Guava Ice and Sail and a Hyper Royal, Bright Crimson and Sail.

Jordan Zoom ’92
A blend of tradition and innovation, Jordan Brand’s Zoom ’92 is back this winter with six fresh takes that weave visible, modern technology and graphic design to create a remixed basketball-inspired silhouette. Three men’s colorways drop this winter alongside three women’s exclusives (one of which is inspired by the original Nike Air Max 180).

The Jordan “Why Not?” x Converse Pack

September 10, 2020 - The Jordan “Why Not?” x Converse Pack treats two of Russell Westbrook’s favorite silhouettes – the Air Jordan XVI and the Converse Chuck 70 – in a graphic and materials arrangement inspired by his gritty play on the court as well as chain nets found on outdoor basketball courts.

In addition to Westbrook’s energy on the court, his unmatched style has no boundaries. The Air Jordan XVI features a detachable, magnetic shroud that can instantly transform the shoe’s look.

The Air Jordan XVI and the Converse Chuck 70 feature a range of textures, from leather to satin, that nod back to rock and roll-styled leather jackets that Westbrook enjoys wearing. Studs that resemble those on leather jackets adorn the lateral side of the shroud of the Air Jordan XVI as well as the heel and the chevron star of the Converse Chuck 70. A crackled leather upper on the Converse Chuck 70 is meant to resemble the concrete foundations of street basketball. Westbrook's “Why Not?” Logo is featured on both silhouettes in silver metal.

The Jordan “Why Not?” x Converse pack releases October 2 on SNKRS and SNEAKRS.

Going Grape Ice on the Links

September 07, 2020 - As the golf community turns its attention to Mamaroneck, N.Y., this NIKE, Inc. Golf capsule playfully puts a grape-ice spin on two classic silhouettes — the Air Jordan V G and the Air Max 97 G, both featured above — as well as the Zoom Infinity Tour, the Victory Tour and the Roshe Tour G.

Featuring a winged foot graphic interpreted from the site of this month's major, the Nike silhouettes include a grape-ice inspired palette of cool blues across the outsoles and inside the heel lining. The stripes reference the famous awning of the site's clubhouse, providing the backdrop for the final hole. The outsole of the Air Jordan V G includes “Wings” in oversized block lettering.

The Air Max 97 G, the Zoom Infinity Tour, the Victory Tour and the Roshe Tour G launch September 14 for Nike Members and September 17 in North America. The Air Jordan V Low G releases September 18 in North America.

The Story Behind the Nike x Dunk Kasina Low

September 06, 2020 - Founded in 1997 by former pro skateboarder EunHyuk Lee, Kasina is renowned as a catalyst for street fashion in South Korea. Collaborating with Nike on the Dunk, Kasina relays its story — from humble beginnings in Busan, South Korea's second-largest city, to opening multiple doors in the country's capital megalopolis, Seoul.

The two colorways of the Dunk Kasina both reference travel through Korea. The Neptune green colorway explicitly pulls from the signage that lines the Gyeongbu Expressway, the main highway between Busan and Seoul. During the mid-’80s, the same period the Dunk was introduced, Seoul experienced a population boom. This growth, symbolized by travel across Korea's highways, underpins the Kasina journey. “Busan” and “Seoul” are written on the left and right heel tabs respectively.

Similarly, the industrial blue colorway draws inspiration from ’80s Korean transport. It mirrors the look and feel of Seoul's vintage buses, down to a unique hangtag that reimagines the steering wheel.

“Kasina” is written on the tongue of both shoes, and its logo appears embroidered on the heel and inside the tongue tag. Additionally, both shoes are packaged with custom tissue prints inspired by roadsigns to round out the story.

The Dunk Kasina in Neptune green releases September 18 exclusively at Kasina. The industrial blue colorway is available September 25 at Kasina and Nike SKNRS in Asia.

Minimalism, Evolved: the Janoski Flyleather RM

September 02, 2020 - The remastered Janoski is arriving in a Flyleather construction made with at least 50% recycled leather fiber, resulting in a more sustainably-minded skate shoe that merges the principles of circular design and the silhouette’s signature minimalist style.

On the upper, the silhouette flips the Flyleather over for a suede-like touch. Environmentally-friendly materials are used in design features like the recycled flat laces. Thoughtful considerations are made in other ways, too, like how the minimally-embroidered Swoosh uses just enough thread for the mark’s shape. On the outsole, the rubber has been thinned out in key areas for a lightweight, broken-in feel.

The Nike SB Zoom Janoski Flyleather RM releases September 7 on nike.com and at select skate shops. To learn more about the shoe visit NikeSB.com.
