Nike SB Blazer Low Salvator Michael

August 12, 2019 - Rooted in a collaborative relationship that stretches back to 2006, the Nike SB Blazer Low “Salvator Michael” is inspired by the character of a marquee piece in artist Michael Lau’s COLLECT THEM ALL! exhibition in Shanghai.

The canvas base fabric is cut at different angles to create unique print variations of the character. Other features are clear references within the world of art auctions. For example, staples are applied around the midsole to mimic the staples that mount a painting canvas to its frame.

The shoe releases August 18.

The Nike Metcon 5+ is Ready for its Debut at the 2019 CrossFit Games

July 24, 2019 - The Nike Metcon 5 will make a formal entrance at the 2019 CrossFit Games in a new look: the Nike Metcon 5+.

The varsity-red colorway of the original Nike Metcon, released in 2015, is flipped for the Metcon 5+. The plus-symbol brushstroke on the heel counter welcomes a new moment for Nike athletes and the Nike Metcon line. Printed on the laces are the geographic coordinates of Madison, Wisconsin, the host city of the 2019 CrossFit Games.

The Nike Metcon 5+ releases to Nike+ members in August.

July 24, 2019 - Pulling stylistic elements from both the new Nike Mercurial and the Nike Air Max Plus, the Nike Mercurial TN is all about combining street and speed. Inspired by the Fall 2019 Mercurial Boot, the capsule features four new colorways.

Two OG models highlight the group, and are most heavily influenced by the iconic boot via its the use of oversized Swoosh and an iridescent checkered graphic that nods to traditional football kits. Additionally, two pairs of the TN Ultra carry a subtle repeat checkerboard pattern and lower profile midsole. A Nike Kids version takes the Mercurial pattern on the heel and a triple black base. Flashy touches and an oversized swoosh complete all the designs.

The new Nike Mercurial TN models are available globally at Foot Locker and on nike.com.

This Cleat Features the Route That Propelled OBJ to Fame

July 24, 2019 - Almost five years ago, Odell Beckham Jr. made "the catch" that catapulted him to stardom and dubbed him the young king of receivers. The Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 OBJ celebrates his larger-than-life game and the path he took to get there.

Symbolizing his pass route that lead to the catch, the cleat features a gold linear design on the upper. Scorpions stitched into the cleat's side are a personal nod to OBJ and his astrological sign, Scorpio. His logo adorns the toe box in gold stitching.

The Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 is available July 25 on nike.com and at select retailers.

The Nike KYRIE 5 Gets a Bikini Bottom Makeover

July 22, 2019 - Bikini Bottom is officially making its debut on land — and on the basketball court. Taking Kyrie’s love for the popular cartoon show and fusing it into his shoe, the Nike Kyrie x SpongeBob SquarePants collection is ready for on-court action, and of course, jellyfishing.

SpongeBob, Patrick Star, Squidward Tentacles, Mr. Krabs and Sandy Cheeks all have their own iteration of the shoe built off their unique characteristics. The star of the show, SpongeBob, has a version featuring a porous bright-yellow upper with a brown and red sole symbolic of his everyday outfit. The lovable best friend Patrick Star is known for his cheery pink coloring and green tonal shorts, both of which are represented in his shoe. In Squidward’s, his recognizable seafoam green coloring is prevalent and his typical callous expression can be found inside the heel. Mr. Krabs and Sandy both have low versions of the shoe, incorporating their signature colors and styles.

The Nike Kyrie x SpongeBob SquarePants Collection releases globally August 10.

July 19, 2019 - Following the release of his first Air Jordan I High, Travis Scott now applies his Cactus Jack persona to a Low version. Staying true to Scott’s love for earth tones and a worn-in look, this version incorporates many of the same design elements of the previous release, such as premium nubuck and Cactus Jack branding on the tongue, left heel and sock liners. Subtle design additions include a reversed white Swoosh on the lateral side, black waxed laces and alternate oval laces in pink and black.

The Travis Scott Air Jordan I Low releases July 19 at travisscott.com and July 20 on SNKRS and SNEAKRS.

July 17, 2019 - The road to gold isn’t pretty. And every year, the competition gets tougher — athletes have to train more and fight harder than ever before. But the top of the podium is worth the calloused hands and trembling muscles.

The special-edition “Medal Strong” Metcon 5 honors this gritty journey. The hazy black upper appears distressed, as though it has been broken in and sweated on. Pops of gold for men and rose gold for women at the heel represent how naturally-occurring metallic gold comes out of the ground: not yet polished, but still valuable.

The Nike Metcon 5 “Medal Strong” will appear on the competition floor in August. It releases July 22 for NikePlus members and globally July 25.

Converse, Joshua Vides and Chinatown Market Explore the Bounds of Customization

July 16, 2019 - The Converse Chuck 70, built from the 1970 articulation the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star, has solidified a reputation as a designer favorite. For Los Angeles-based artist Joshua Vides and Chinatown Market’s Michael Cherman, the shoe is also an invitation for hands-on experiences.

Cherman’s vision for the shoe employs a light-sensitive, multi-tone asymmetrical canvas upper, which transforms when exposed to UV light. Vides allows for a more intentional transformation: His Chuck 70 incorporates interchangeable Velcro panels in custom Pantone colors.

Converse adds to this mix by offering a third sneaker with its own evocative release. The UNT1TL3D pack carries an exaggerated midsole and an upper features hand-drawn iterations of the phrase “NOT A CHUCK” — an ode to DIY decoration and the notion that a Chuck is defined only by the wearer.

All three shoes launch during ComplexCon Chicago, July 20 and 21, at the Converse booth. Broader releases for each of the Chuck 70s follow: July 26 for the Converse x UNT1TL3D; August 2 for the Converse x Chinatown Market;  August 16 for the Converse x Joshua Vides.

Converse Basketball Off-Court Preview

July 15, 2019 - Highlighted by new versions of two classic basketball silhouettes, Converse’s fall footwear channels ’90s hoops vibes in familiar and unexpected ways. Several elements of the decade's sportswear history is reflected — including an early penchant for tracksuits to a later embrace of bold geometries — and re-crafted.

VLTG
Originally released in 1995, the Converse Voltage made an immediate statement on collegiate and NBA courts through its dynamic “bolt-chevron” upper pattern. That it was worn by some of the era's most potent guards led to its mystic and made the shoe a cult favorite (lock-up with school uniform styles helped too).

For 2019, the Voltage is brought back from the archives for the first time, its spirit channeled through the new, women's-only VLTG. This vision of the shoe reinterprets the ’95 silhouette with an exaggerated heel arch, lightweight SmartFoam cushioning and street-ready herringbone outsole.

ERX 260 MID
The color blocking of the ERX 260 MID draws from a series of Converse tracksuits sold in 1990 under the “CONS Collection” label. Along with an embossed tongue, these blocked color palettes celebrate the ERX’s over-the-top verve. The shoe is completed by OrthoLite insole cushioning and an EVA heel.

ERX 260 OX
Notable for its brash high and mid models, the ERX gets a low-cut, off-court refresh in 2019. It retains archival design cues, including embossed tongue details, and is given an OrthoLite insole with EVA heel for added comfort.

All three shoes will launch August 2019.
