September 06, 2019 - Each of Skepta’s Nike SK trainers share an element of his personal story, from travel to Morocco to building a fan base in Paris — and the SK SHOX is no exception. It does, however, extend a more transcendental tone than the three prior Air Max-based releases.
The SK SHOX is about finding belief in boundless opportunity. In 2018, Skepta was bestowed a chieftainship in his parents' home state of Ogun in Nigeria. Nigerian chieftainships are given in recognition of a positive contribution to community wellbeing. “It made me realize that anybody could be a chief, but some people are brought up not thinking they can,” he says.
The shoe’s design extends this thought in the abstract. It incorporates elements of Skepta’s Nigerian heritage to share his familial respect. "I take pride in the fact that I know my surname, and I know where I’m from and both my parents are Nigerian," he says. "It was about bringing Nike to Nigeria and letting the kids know the energy."
That energy is also one that Skepta is keen to harness in this provocative shoe, to let everyone feel their dreams are within reach. The shoe becomes a conduit to share his point of view that the future is limitless.
"It is important to make people believe that they can feel royal — that if they work hard, their work will be recognized and appreciated and celebrated," he says.
Skepta's choice of the SHOX silhouette is rooted in a specific memory. “When I used to go to Manchester, all the kids were rocking SHOX. It was a real street shoe there. I liked their swag — the windbreakers and the SHOX," he remembers. "I thought ‘Yeah, let’s definitely do that,’ because I always remember those trips up north."
The Nike SK SHOX drop September 12 on SNEAKRS in Europe, SNKRS in Asia and Greater China, and at select retailers.

September 04, 2019 - Chicago-born Ibn Jasper wants to make sure today’s kids know Dr. J. That would be Julius Erving, the first basketball player to dunk from the foul line, known for his free-flowing play as well as for wearing Converse’s Pro Leather basketball shoe.
First released in 1976, the Pro Leather debuted as the lightest and most durable performance basketball shoe on the market. Highlighted by the star/chevron logo, the shoe was worn in collegiate and pro competition by many of the game’s best — though most notably by Erving — before being discontinued in 1983. Subsequent reissues have cemented the silhouette's stature in hoop-shoe canon, and given it standing in fashion and skate circles alike.
“This particular collaboration means a lot to me since I was born in the '70s and grew up in the '80s watching all of the great NBA players like Dr.J.,” says Jasper. “The aesthetic is based on a photo of Dr. J. walking into the arena with an all-white outfit. He looks like he just stepped off of the runway. I thought to myself: ‘How can I distill this image and vibe into a collection?’”
The statuesque white serves a secondary purpose too. Jasper’s intent is to channel Erving’s sophisticated style into a trophy that pays homage to the high-flying player’s individual legacy and broad impact on the game. Roman numeral embossing adds to this vibe, granting historical weight to a contemporary design accentuated by a zippered tongue.
The collection will release September 26.

August 26, 2019 - High speed is ingrained in Neymar Jr.’s playmaking DNA. He possesses an electric pace, seen in his quick dribbling skills, and dazzling sprints. His passion for velocity also spills over into his love for motorsports and racing. This affinity for speed on and off the pitch is the inspiration for Nike’s special-edition Neymar Jr. Mercurial Vapor Speed Freak.
Presenting an auto-racing design, nod to his speedy style of play, the boot carries a metallic silver upper and features a red and black checkered flag design from the underfoot up to the medial side. The heel area includes the legendary number 10 that he wears with the Brazilian national team, iconic Nike logos, as well as graphics from past boot models and some of Neymar Jr.’s personal mantras ("Sonho Dourado," "Alegria," "IV," "Shhh").
The boot will be available August 29 on nike.com.
August 23, 2019 - The origin of the latest Nike ISPA design has a simple foundation. While the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit is comfortable (for all its lightweight, responsive reasons), the shoe suffers during the flash downpours of summer and the steady rain of fall. The solution — inventing a sophisticated removable shroud that swiftly transforms the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit into a water-resistant gator boot — draws from all four elements of the ISPA design processes.
The inspiration comes from cycling spats, effectively scavenging an idea from bike commuters and adapting it to a sleeker form that protects the wearer from wet weather. If one improvises with the shroud, a number of rather cool, stylistic stances can also form.
The shroud and shoe are sold together, and the shroud can also be used with existing Nike Air VaporMax product.
The shoe releases in two colorways August 23.
