October 15, 2020 - More than two years ago, at the start of her ongoing collaboration with Converse, Feng Chen Wang, like many designers before her, requested pairs of the Converse Chuck 70 to complete her SS19 Menswear presentation at New York Fashion Week.
Equipped with more than 30 pairs, Wang captured the global attention of the creative community when she presented her vision of the canvas sneaker: a carefully deconstructed and delicately reassembled Chuck 70 concept shoe, complete with hand-painted details. Wang continued to tinker her concept through shape, style and color, and a few weeks later, debuted fresh iterations during her show in Shanghai.
Shortly after the show, Converse and Wang began work to figure out how to formalize the bold concept and bring it to wider audiences. During the following year, after numerous rounds of construction, fit and colorway explorations, the team engineered a design and finalized a color palette that demonstrates the cohesion between Wang’s deconstructed ethos and the classic Converse silhouette.
The result is all about honoring the icon, but boldly breaking the structure.
The Chuck 70 2-in-1 unifies two alternate sizes of Chuck 70 to converge form and style in one approach. Not dissimilar to the exploration of layering often seen in Wang's eponymous brand and her recent Converse collaborations, the silhouette is crafted with “two” in mind: a paired organic canvas overlay, double-layered foxing tape and a modified outsole, spliced into four quadrants. This intentional design keenly demonstrates the duality of Wang’s idea while providing the wearer with enhanced “flex” in their step within the highly-structured build.
The sneakers also feature a double-lace loop for alternative styling, and Feng Chen Wang’s namesake logo appears on the heel, sockliner and laces.
The Converse x Feng Chen Wang Chuck 70 2-in-1 launches October 20 in black and persimmon orange color palettes.
April 06, 2020 - Neymar Jr. never stops inventing, refracting the harsh glare of the spotlight into a brilliant spectrum of athleticism. It’s those prismatic elements of Neymar Jr. that serve as the inspiration for Nike’s special edition Neymar Jr. Mercurial Vapor Jogo Prismático: a boot that is the embodiment of the player.
A bold expression of all he brings on and off the pitch, Neymar Jr.’s latest player edition boot is packed with character. From the Ousadia (Daring) and Alegria (Joy) printed on the heels of the boot corresponding to Neymar Jr.’s tattoos on his legs, to the boot's aesthetic nods to the dynamic 2019 Mercurial Vapor Speed Freak, this boot weaves in elements of Neymar Jr. and Nike Football history throughout its design. Also underscoring Neymar Jr.'s longstanding relationship with Nike, this boot highlights the stars of his first Mercurial player edition — the 2017 “Written in the Stars” Mercurial Vapor — hidden amongst the kaleidoscopic print. For the first time, Neymar Jr.’s latest player edition boot also employs his new NJR signature logo; the previous NJR logo is used as a secondary detail within the pattern.
The Neymar Jr. Mercurial Vapor Jogo Prismático is available April 6 on nike.com.

March 30, 2020 - With the Jordan Delta, Jordan Brand brings together its heritage of high-end material craftsmanship and high-tech construction methods. The shoe is designed for daily wear and is highlighted by an upper constructed with breathable mesh and augmented by lush suede overlays. The interior is seamless to prevent abrasion and ensure a smooth feel against the foot for all-day comfort. Additional padding to the collar and ergonomic tongue and heel loops further prioritize function-first design.
Underfoot, the Jordan Delta has full-length Nike React foam. The shoe's abstract herringbone pattern, which references a basketball mainstay for traction, delivers support and lightweight flexibility.
Minimal branding, in the form of hand-drawn elements, allows the form and construction of the Jordan Delta to speak for itself as a modern expression of the Jordan Brand.
The Jordan Delta SP, a Sail/Photo Blue-White version of the shoe, launches April 4 on Jordan.com and at select retailers. The Vachetta Tan colorway arrives May 14 in full family sizing, and the Black colorway releases June 6.

March 27, 2020 - The Nike Tiempo Future DNA Tiempo Legend brings classic Nike Football design to one of the brand’s latest on-pitch innovations.
Originally released in 2011, the Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite was the lightest Tiempo of its time — by at least 20 grams. Even more enticing than its lightweight feel was its ability to stand out on the pitch: the cleat’s vibrant orange pop of color from the tongue, heel graphic, stud tips and laces created a stark contrast from the black premium leather upper (a signature of the Tiempo franchise). Nike Flywire technology was integrated into the leather for a midfoot lockdown and, overall, more dynamic fit, while enhanced vamp stitching was strategically placed for lateral agility.
With tribute to its predecessor, the latest Nike Tiempo Legend 8 gets OG Tiempo Legend IV Elite color treatment. Its fit and feel is defined by the Legend 8’s stitchless, quilted diamond pattern upper and Flyknit Fit Tunnel, providing a supportive and snug fit around the midfoot. Additionally, the boot has Quadfit mesh in the forefoot to prevent overstretch of the outer leather layer.
The boot is the fourth and final release from Nike Football’s Future DNA Pack, in which Nike’s current performance boots each pay homage to a classic Nike Football design, and follows the release of the Nike Phantom VSN 2 Future DNA Hypervenom, the Nike Mercurial Vapor Future DNA Mercurial and the Nike Phantom VNM Future DNA T90.
The Nike Tiempo Future DNA Tiempo Legend is available March 27 on nike.com.
March 20, 2020 - The Nike Phantom VNM Future DNA T90 brings classic Nike Football design to one of the brand’s latest on-pitch innovations.
Originally released in 2002, the Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II was the perfect blend of comfort, power and precision. Made of soft KN-100 — a strong, light material — the boot’s namesake stemmed from the creation of a cleat that would support player comfort for the total 90 minutes of a match. The cleat featured asymmetrical, off-center lacing for a larger boot-to-ball surface (which helps create a cleaner strike), as well as Zoom Air units in the outsole for optimal traction and stud pressure reduction.
The Nike Phantom VNM Future DNA T90 pays tribute to its predecessor’s classic black, white and red colorway, and translates the 2002 cleat’s goal of precision through modern Phantom VNM technology to facilitate a powerful strike. Most notably, the new boot comes equipped with a Precision Pwr strike zone in the instep — 13 ridges set at specific angles and ascending heights to help keep the ball down and to provide a bite on its surface.
The boot is the third release from the Nike Football’s Future DNA Pack, which finds Nike’s current performance boots each paying homage to a classic Nike Football design, and follows the release of the Nike Phantom VSN 2 Future DNA Hypervenom and the Nike Mercurial Vapor Future DNA Mercurial.
The Nike Phantom VNM Future DNA T90 is available March 20 on nike.com.
March 13, 2020 - The Nike Mercurial Vapor "Future DNA Mercurial" brings classic Nike Football design to one of the brand’s latest on-pitch innovations.
Originally released in 2009, the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly was the lightest, fastest iteration of the Nike Mercurial at the time, and served as a glimpse into the future of Nike football boots. For the first time on a boot, the original Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly incorporated next-generation Nike Flywire technology in a streamlined upper. The purpose of the filament and fiber technology was to serve as a second skin, and offer a lightweight, stronger, more dynamic fit. It also housed a carbon fiber sole plate that reacted to the need for speed with strategically-configured blades for superior footing and quick cuts in any direction.
Paying tribute to its predecessor’s Max Orange and Metallic Silver colorway — debuting only on the pitch by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo — the Nike Mercurial Vapor "Future DNA Mercurial" sees modern upgrades on a classically fast boot with the addition of high-tenacity yarns on the upper (an elevated version of the Nike Flywire technology used on the original), which keeps the boot from stretching. The 2020 iteration also has All Conditions Control to prevent the boot from being porous.
The boot is the second release from Nike Football’s Future DNA Pack, in which current performance boots pay homage to a classic Nike Football design.
The Nike Mercurial Vapor "Future DNA Mercurial" is available March 13 on nike.com.
March 12, 2020 - The first Women’s Jordan OG collaboration with LA-based designer Melody Ehsani is rooted in bringing basketball to a new generation.
“The legacy [of the Women’s Air Jordan OG] speaks for itself,” says Ehsani. “It was an exciting time in history with the inception of the WNBA and all the incredible women who were coming into the game. The shoe is really an emblem of this moment, a first in many regards.”
Symbolizing women’s excellence on and off the court, the designer chose an updated approach to the Air Jordan OG SP x Melody Ehsani, and through a classic lens. The black and infrared shoe is highlighted by a cherry detailing — a symbol of abundance and closely associated with the goddess of fertility.
March 09, 2020 - If Undefeated's initial Nike Air Max 90 paid direct 1990s-homage, the second effort from the LA-based outfit delivers a sneaker design version of a retro futurist approach.
Rugged leather from edition one is replaced by myriad materials referencing the ’90s New York street scene's adoption of technical outdoor gear. In respect for the function-first origins of those practical pieces, the shoe itself is striped down and the silhouette's features deftly reinterpreted for 2020.
Approach to the design began first with fabrication, trying to mix iconic sneaker fabrics, such as nubuck leather and hairy suede, with translucent materials and technical mesh to give a modern vibe to a classic silhouette.
This approach lead to some restructuring of the shoe's paneling to both reduce material and streamline the upper pattern. The Swoosh is thus elongated and the typical rubber "Air Max" marker above the Air-unit window is removed. Padding in the tongue and heel is also minimized, adding to the sleeker form. Additional details include a heel pull tab and tongue lacing reminiscent of the Nike Vomero 5.
The colorways are a study in contrast — a concise, all-black look highlighting the depth and texture of the build, and a blue Undefeated exclusive, honoring past Nike ACG and Running footwear and apparel.
The Undefeated exclusive colorway was inspired by the colors and hues that came out of the golden era of running shoes — the late ’80s and early ’90s — and the pop colors of outdoor sneakers that were making noise from ’92 to ’95 in NYC.
The black Undefeated Nike Air Max 90 launches March 14 at Undefeated stores, followed by a second release March 19 on SNKRS. The Undefeated exclusive blue colorway retails on Air Max Day, March 26.

March 06, 2020 - The ethos is now well established: ISPA uses NIKE, Inc.'s robust portfolio of innovations to solve for the challenges of city life. These challenges are as varied as the human-made environment, and in the case of the Nike ISPA Air Max 720, the design decisions serve to stabilize Nike's tallest Air unit and safeguard it from bumps and bruises.
What bumps and bruises? Think jostling for space on a metro train, stretching out to keep a door from shutting or bouncing through a rave. The challenges of city life are nuanced and, often, discrete. A solid Air Max can help keep one comfortable through it all.
And, as Air Max is to the dance hall what an Oxford shirt is to American prep schools, the ISPA Air Max 720 incorporates a heel tab fastener that functions like a classic locker tab so that the shoes can be hung in glory after a night out.
Elements for the shoe are drawn from the Nike React 87 (those should be familiar) and when applied to the Air Max unit serve to guide the bags' displacement for a firmer ride. On the upper, tight mesh cutouts offer breathability (again, the Air Max is to the dance hall...).
The shoe offers sophisticated solutions to a few unique, everyday problems, while managing to look awesomely futuristic.
The chrome colorway launches March 13.
