November 21, 2019 - South Central LA artist Lauren Halsey knows what it means to create with authenticity. Halsey is hailed in her community for combining vibrant elements of found, fabricated and handmade objects from around the city to build densely textured installations and monuments. Her sculptures are inscribed with sentiments from the LA community, aimed at authentically and poetically rewriting the narrative on both a local and global stage.
Halsey and her artwork are also inspiration for the latest Los Angeles–specific Air Force 1, the AF-1 ALL FOR 1 – Los Angeles. Employing Halsey’s signature style, which is deeply rooted in the South Central neighborhood she grew up in, she funkatizes the insole with a kaleidoscope of visuals, adorned in red and green accents, interchangeable straps and inscribed with words of love.
The shoe remixes the Triple Black High into an ode to Los Angeles, celebrating the ones who cultivate community through creativity. Inspired by colors, familiar typographic design and iconic posters plastered around the city, Halsey’s collection is a visual and tangible tale of South Central LA. The shoe’s tongue tag is woven in with block text true to posters seen across the city for decades, its sockliner has a collage of South LA storefronts and it features dubrae with hand-lettered screen printing in font similar to Halsey’s Hieroglyph Crenshaw Project — a public installation of hieroglyphic carvings that allows communities in South Central LA to author their own stories.
“We all should move, create and act with the conceit of love in our hearts,” says Halsey. “Love means family. It means my friends. It means my girlfriend. When I work and when I build I think about who I can involve so that the projects are centered around love from beginning to end.”

July 24, 2020 - The return of the NBA and WNBA is set to begin in Florida, where Orlando and Bradenton will host condensed regular seasons before playoff basketball kicks off, eventually crowning a league champion. A number of Nike Basketball silhouettes will hit the court in fresh colorways, from special editions of the LEBRON 17 to new renditions of the KYRIE 3 Low to more Gatorade flavors of the PG4.

LEBRON 17 Low Titan

KYRIE 3 Low, Eclipse and Inner Harmony
The KYRIE Low 3 Eclipse strikes a tonal balance between night and day, with intricate patterns on the toe and strap and a yellow emblem on the heel. The Inner Harmony colorway pairs a tranquil sunrise gradient with hieroglyphic symbols that speak to Irving’s fascination with the mysterious. The Eclipse colorway releases in North America in August; the Inner Harmony colorway releases in September.
KD13 Nike Nationals
Continuing the KD line’s tradition of recognizing the summertime tournament, this KD13 features glossy gold detailing in the upper’s gridded pattern, the heel wings and the upper half of the Nike Swoosh, brought together through bright blue stitching. The KD Nike Nationals releases July 30 in North America.
The PG and GX logos cover the semi-translucent upper, arriving in both green and orange for additional takes on Gatorade drink flavors. Beneath the mesh overlays of the PG4 are more pops of orange, visible through the heel counter and on the laces. The orange colorway releases August 8 on SNKRS in North America. The green colorway releases July 31 in North America.
A cool-blue version of the outdoor-inspired colorway, the PG4 PCG2 releases in September.
Zoom Freak 2, White Cement
The Zoom Freak 2 colorway is inspired by the four-mile concrete trek that Antetokounmpo would regularly make as a youth from his Sepolia neighborhood in Athens to the gym for practice. The colorway releases October 1 in North America.
Zoom BB NXT
The non-signature performance silhouette from Nike Basketball arrives in a red mesh upper and a navy circular outsole pattern. The shoe releases in August.
July 23, 2020 - Since returning to performance basketball with the All Star Pro BB in 2019, Converse has locked in with its family of athletes (male and female, pro and amateur) to evolve its product. With the introduction of the Converse All Star BB Evo, that hard work is actualized.
“The Converse All Star BB Evo has a low center of gravity; it allows me to be in control each and every moment,” says Kelly Oubre Jr.
Specifically, the ASBB Evo helps keep players on their forefoot, positioning them for nimble moves and creative reactions to find space on the court.
Oubre Jr., Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Natasha Cloud, along with other basketball players from around the world, provided consistent feedback to ensure a design that maximizes on-court control with a healthy dose of artistry. "You get a feeling from it," says Oubre Jr. of the ASBB Evo's aesthetic.
"Athletes are, more than ever, dedicated to self-expression on and off the court," says Richard Ward, Converse Design Director of Footwear. "We wanted to build the upper in a way that allowed for more expressive and bold paneling through a distinctive split. This also allowed us to solve for a performance need, through lockdown and stability.”
The shoe carries some familiar details from its predecessor. Of note is the iconic Star Chevron logo — presented here with a blurred articulation evoking movement and speed. It also delivers new features, including a 5/8 collar height and the 50/50 split upper, which combine to calibrate the shoe for creative playmaking.

- HEIGHT The ASBB Evo carries a 5/8 height purposefully crafted (and directly influenced by player insight) for increased flexibility. Zonal padding around the ankle provides optimum protection.

July 23, 2020 - The Nike Waffle Racer, which cemented Nike’s place at the forefront of running innovation, returns in 2020 with a sleek and modernized women’s silhouette for everyday wear.
The new iteration, the Nike Women’s Waffle Racer 2X, takes notes from the OG’s pioneering effort to find an adaptable outsole and is redesigned with a slimmer construction for the shape and proportion of a woman’s heel. Coupling the classic design aspects with amplified characteristics (see the larger waffle pattern outsole), the Nike Women’s Waffle Racer 2X employs an inside-out design ethos on the upper to showcase the original construction and incorporates webbing as a subtle nod to the first edition. The chrome tape featured on the lead colorway is a futuristic play on the classic tongue box stitch. The shoe also highlights the patent number of the OG version (3793750) and a quote from co-founder Bill Bowerman ingrained in the design as nods to the classic model.

July 21, 2020 - The LEBRON 17 Low Titan is the second collaborative LEBRON colorway with Titan, a Manila-based basketball concept store. The shoe is flooded in red and features an all-over graphic on the upper emblazoned with logos and symbols that represent moments in Titan's 10-year history. The tongue has a special crest that features a globe mounted on James' iconic crown logo, Titan's lightning bolt logo and the words "Para Sa Kadakilaan,” which translate to "Strive For Greatness."
“LeBron has always had a deep connection with Filipinos, as we all share his unique love for the game," says Nikko Ramos, Titan's Brand Connections Director. "This shoe’s design and storytelling is a true testament to the partnership."
The LEBRON 17 Low Titan releases at all Titan doors, the Titan App and Titan22.com August 1. The shoe will also be available at Nike Park Fort August 8.
July 21, 2020 - Drafting from the design ethos of his previous deconstructed Air Jordan creations, Virgil Abloh lends his unique touch to the storied Air Jordan IV silhouette through a women's-first approach. The shoe sports Off-White’s patented bold text graphics, muted sail color makeup and a yellow, tinted outsole.
Full-grain leather and grid mesh make up the shoe’s upper, which is covered by a clear textile to add a subtle layer of modernity. Bold, all-caps imprints label the laces and Air cushioning, with familiar lettering on the medial side detailing the shoe’s Oregon origins. Exposed foam on the collar and a signature Off-White zip tie provide finishing touches.

July 20, 2020 - As Nike continues to keep fresh one of its most iconic lines with classic and new Air Max silhouettes, the Swoosh is dropping five different Air Max units for Fall 2020. The assortment is led by a new women’s exclusive silhouette and a 1-to-1 replica of the Nike Air Max III.
Women's Nike Air Max Up
Joining a storied women's Nike Air Max lineup, including Nike Air Max Dia and Nike Air Max Verona, Nike Air Max Up is made with a new ramp Air unit (non-pressurized air that allows for a different design and can take on additional shapes). The newest Max Air unit is combined with soft Cushlon in the forefoot, providing a responsive and lightweight solution tailor-made to a women’s footprint and is maximized for all-day comfort. Positioned in a jewelry-like setting, the Air Max unit brings a new, feminine look to sneaker culture.
“This silhouette, and specifically the colors, are inspired by bold women who have thought outside of the bubble, stepping out of their comfort zones to pave the way of future female generations,” says Nike Color Designer Arielle Ebenholtz. “With Air Max never being tuned in Nike Sportswear specifically for women from the ground up prior to this, women are really wearing history when they put on the Nike Air Max Up.”

Nike Air Max III
Nike designers painstakingly dialed in each detail and element from a three-decades-old pair to create the closest replica to the original 1990 Nike Air Max model yet. The silhouette's most authentic retro iteration to date, the shoe carries its OG name and features the original tooling with forefoot Nike Air unit and a tapered midsole in the toe. Nike designers additionally matched the inner lining pattern, and the collar and tongue foam packages are as close to the predecessor as possible. The Nike Air Max III — led by an eggplant women's colorway and a laser blue men's colorway — has the same collar and heel heights as its originator, as well as labeling on the tongue and collar.

Nike Air Max ZM950
Paying tribute to the Nike Air Max 95, Nike introduces the Air Max ZM950. The shoe’s gradient external welded TPI, in addition to its lightweight, breathable mesh on the upper, serve as subtle nods to the original. The Nike Air Max ZM950 also has a 270 Max Air unit, two visible forefoot Zoom Air units and a heel 270 Max Air unit to give the silhouette an entirely new underfoot sensation.

Nike Air VaporMax 2020 Flyknit By You
One of Nike’s most sustainable models, made with at least 50 percent recycled content by weight, the Nike Air VaporMax 2020 Flyknit allows for individual flair through its Nike By You iteration. Design options incorporate an overt floral branded applique patch (made from recycled polyester embroidery thread with a recycled polyester felt back), and plays with the overall design of the Swoosh by paying homage to the natural inspiration of psychedelic art from the 1970s.

July 17, 2020 - Originally released in 1979, the Nike Challenger — a contemporary of the more well-known Tailwind and Daybreak models — helped to redefine comfort and fit for runners with its innovative zigzag pattern, variable-width system and lacing. The silhouette returns for 2020, and is modeled after an original Challenger pattern order from Nike.
“We’ve been on a great journey with Waffle models for the past couple of years,” says Rory Fraser, Nike Senior Global Product Manager. “After re-releasing the Tailwind OG, Waffle Racer and Daybreak, we wanted to follow up with a model from the same era, but with a slightly different upper construction. The Challenger has more splits and panels, allowing us to play around with material and color in a slightly new way — and providing fans of the classics with something different to add to their closets.”
While the styling remains true to the original Challenger (note the strikingly effective combination of nylon, suede and mesh on the upper), the heel has been widened for a more comfortable fit. A red and blue colorway incorporates a yellow midsole to intentionally provide a heritage look and feel, and a cream and sail and a black and blue rendition serve as new colorways for the classic.

July 14, 2020 - Front and center in the Nike SB Dunk Low Grateful Dead is the band’s most lovable symbol, the dancing bears, which first appear on the back cover of the group’s 1973 LP "History of the Grateful Dead, Volume 1 (Bear’s Choice)." Set in three colorways, the shoe playfully features bear-inspired detailing, such as a faux-fur and suede upper, a frayed Nike Swoosh mimicking the bears’ collars and an image of the bear on the tongue. (Another iconic Grateful Dead logo, the Steal Your Face skull, is printed on the underside of the sockliner.)
The community-rich bond among Dead Heads is even more inviting thanks to the band’s fun, furry ambassadors. While the bears may not have influenced the music itself, the man behind the bears — an enigmatic audio engineer nicknamed Bear, who helped develop the group’s Wall of Sound system as well as the cartoon symbol — certainly did, and his work brought a resounding impact to the Grateful Dead’s legacy, much like Nike SB founder Sandy Bodecker’s impact on the Dunk and skate culture.
"As the band’s benefactor, Bear was an incredibly huge part of the Grateful Dead’s ability to become who they were,” says David Lemieux, the band’s archivist and legacy manager. “They were talented musicians, but they would not have had the financial freedom to forgo jobs, move to Los Angeles and practice for 14 hours a day. The band wouldn’t become what it is today without Bear’s innovations and contributions. The same fiercely independent spirit from Bodecker helped create that authenticity within the skate community.”

July 14, 2020 - With the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Crater, Converse's 100-plus-year-old classic firmly evolves in the pursuit of sustainability. Its design draws from Nike’s pioneering Space Hippie efforts, but does so with a unique constraint: preserve the DNA of the world’s most iconic sneaker.
The All Star has its non-negotiable aesthetic cues — the toe cap, the foxing tap and the pin stripe. Remaining true to the look and feel of traditional canvas, getting the height right and ensuring new patches reflect old values are critical to maintaining the shoe’s All Star-ness too.
Translating the Space Hippie design ethos to the silhouette required overcoming three key challenges: Applying Crater Foam to a Chuck shape, identifying a viable upper materials and radically rethinking the use of reinforcer materials.
More than 100 people collaborated to meet these challenges. Using in-situ design principles, their output included figuring out how Crater Foam, which expands differently than typical footwear foams, could be molded appropriately to meet Chuck specs. Converse also developed unique uppers that employ Morphlon blends, which feature recycled polyester and recycled post-industrial textile waste scraps and lend an emotional pull-through to traditional Chuck uppers. By reconceptualizing components fundamental to the construction of all Chucks, the Chuck Taylor All Star Crater also achieves an additive design language (note the new eyerow) with less material, and created a new lacing system as a byproduct.
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Crater is part of NIKE, Inc.’s Move to Zero journey toward zero carbon and zero waste. In turning trash into a beautiful new articulation of the Chuck Taylor All Star, Converse achieves at least 40 percent recycled content by total weight marker, making it one of Converse’s most sustainable sneakers to date. The aesthetic, in all its perfectly-imperfect glory, also forms the basis for future Converse Renew collections, which will draft off of select materials.
