The Team USA collection elevates sustainability when this summer’s lights will shine brightest: the medal ceremony. Inspired by the recycled materials that make up the medals, Nike designers reimagined the iconic Windrunner jacket with 100 percent recycled polyester. Its distinct chevron-shaped silhouette, engineered to size for both male and female athletes, is inspired by Japanese kimono design and the panels are knit to shape for minimal waste. The garment’s defining mark — the national team logo — is stamped with recycled Nike Grind rubber. Team USA pants are also constructed from 100 percent recycled nylon, with a 100 percent recycled polyester mesh lining. Additional elements, such as the drawcord tips, zipper pulls and Swoosh branding, are made with Nike Grind.
This summer’s medalists will wear some of Nike’s lowest-impact footwear atop the podium. The Vapormax, a Nike Air icon, is made using 75 percent recycled manufacturing waste. Its recycled-polyester Flyknit upper is precision-engineered for minimal waste. Additional features include FlyEase technology, enabling easy entry and adjustability for athletes of all abilities on the medal stand. Each color and material was inspired by a view of piles of waste from a distance, mixing different textures, colors and shapes together to form the new Nike Air Vapormax 2020.

This season’s 2018 Nike N7 Collection is inspired by rapper Taboo’s relationship with his Native American heritage, which helped to develop his professional style and gives him pride for his cultural roots.
“My initial style influence was from my grandmother taking me to see traditional dancing in East L.A,” says Taboo, who is an ambassador for this year's collection along with professional gymnast Ashton Locklear. “I was influenced by how they put their outfits together. They wore boots; I wore sneakers. So I started with footwear and accessorized my outfit around that. And it grew from there. My dance style comes from watching ceremonial dance. That’s who I am. I represent what was started hundreds of years ago.”
That traditional Native American dance influence appears in the new collection through intricate beadwork patterning and a color palette from the natural world.

The Nike SB x NBA Collection draws from basketball’s enduring influence on skateboarding. Highlighting classic silhouettes, the collection unites two cultures with distinct crossovers in style and function — a fact skaters themselves know well.
“Growing up in Southern California in the '80s was what got me into basketball,” says Nike SB skateboarder Eric Koston. “I was getting deep into skateboarding in high school, but having the Showtime Lakers as my home team was so exciting to watch. They were at the peak of their championship wins, they had their rivalry with the Celtics – it was compelling, competitive, flashy basketball.”
The collection’s two pieces of apparel — the Nike SB x NBA Satin Bomber and the Nike SB x NBA Hoodie — are adorned with an oversized Association logo, an iconic symbol of style, individuality and fandom.
Classic basketball silhouettes compose the footwear assortment, including the Nike Bruin, Blazer and Dunk. In the shoes’ earliest forms, key features like padded ankle collars and flat soles were a natural fit for skateboarders who needed protection and tight boardfeel while riding.
“As a skateboarder, I’ve always looked at those early basketball shoes from an aesthetic standpoint — because the style was always cool — but also from a technological standpoint, because of the similarities in our need for impact and support,” says Koston.
