2013 Fall collection is crafted to conquer the elements.
At The Open Championship, Nike Golf athletes will compete in new designs from the Fall 2013 collection to combat unpredictable weather conditions at Muirfield in Scotland.
“We make sure our athletes have the base layers, Dri-FIT polos, cover-ups and outerwear so they are prepared for a round that could see four different seasons over 18 holes,” said Merritt Richardson, VP of Global Golf Apparel and Footwear."Our athletes will be armed with the essentials so they don’t have to think about their apparel during their quest for a Major Championship trophy.”
Nike athletes will be outfitted with the Nike Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket, which offers mobility and waterproof protection. The only performance jacket of its kind, the Nike Hyperadapt Storm-FIT features sweater-like stretch and an impenetrable outer layer. Both elements work together without sacrificing performance.
Thirteen Nike athletes will compete at the 2013 Open Championship: Scott Brown, David Duval, Oliver Fisher, Russell Henley, Scott Jamieson, Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Thorbjorn Olesen, Carl Pettersson, Charl Schwartzel, Kyle Stanley, Nick Watney and Tiger Woods.
Woods will rely on proven innovations from Nike Golf’s Fall 2013 Tiger Woods Collection. Throughout the tournament, Woods will wear the TW Ultra Polo in White ($95), the TW Saturated Color Polo in Light Armory Blue ($95), the TW Trajectory Polo in Black ($100), and the TW Stripe Polo in Hyper Red ($90). The ultra lightweight polos feature a laser-perforated collar for increased ventilation to keep the athlete cool while also reducing overall weight. All four styles incorporate the posture-performance chassis with kimono- style back to allow Woods an increased range of motion throughout his swing. Woods will finish his look with the new Nike TW’14 footwear.
McIlroy will sport looks from Nike Golf's Fall 2013 Tour Performance collection, featuring the latest innovations in lightweight, breathable fabrications. He will kick off the week in the Vent Tech Polo in White ($75) with pops of Gamma Green. On Friday, McIlroy’s outfit goes dark with the Fashion Bold Stripe Polo in Black ($70) and Half-zip Banded Tech Cover-up in Orange ($85) if the round brings cool weather. For the weekend, McIlroy will wear the Fashion Print Polo in Black ($70) on Saturday and the Light Weight Tech Polo in Game Royal ($65) for his final round. He will stay protected with the new Nike Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket if wet weather sweeps in at Muirfield. McIlroy will complete his look with the Nike Lunar Control footwear.
As he hunts for his second major championship victory, Schwartzel will compete in classic, refined looks from the Fall 2013 Tour Premium Collection on Thursday through Saturday. He will wear the Nike Premium Precision Polo in Summit White ($85) on Thursday and the Nike Premium Precision Polo in Black ($85) on Friday. If the weather is cool at Muirfield, he will pair both of these with the Nike Performance V-neck Sweater in Carbon Heather ($100) and the Nike Premium L/S Tech Wool Polo in Light Gridiron Heather ($140) for the weekend. Schwartzel will sport color on Saturday with the Nike Embossed Polo in Game Royal ($65) and the Fashion Jacquard Polo in Hyper Red ($70). He will finalize his look with the Nike Lunar Control footwear.
Searching for his first major victory, Watney will rely on the Tour Performance Collection to keep him comfortable and protected on the links. He will kick off the tournament week with a bold look pairing the Light Weight Tech Polo in Hyper Fuchsia ($65) with the Nike Golf Plaid Pant in White ($85). Watney will wear the Iconic Polo in Gamma Green ($65) on Friday, the Fashion Stretch Stripe Polo in Distance Blue ($70) on Saturday and the Light Weight Color Block Polo in Black ($65) for his final round. As weather demands, he will layer with the Half-zip Wind Resist Sweater ($150) and the Elevated Half-zip Cover-up ($85), both in Armory Slate. The Nike Flat Bill Tour Cap and the Nike Lunar Control footwear will complete his looks.
Olesen will make his third appearance at the Open wearing deep, rich color from the Sport Collection and the Tour Performance Collection. The Sport Collection, which represents a youthful and edgy design with a slimmer cut, will be seen on Olesen on Thursday and Saturday at Muirfield. The Dane will wear the Sport Nike Swing Polo in Fusion Pink ($60) on Thursday and the same polo in Light Photo Blue ($60) on Saturday. He will layer his looks with the Sport Long Sleeve Crew in Oat Heather ($80) over the weekend. Friday and Sunday Olesen will continue the rich color theme with the Light Weight Tech polo in Electro Orange ($65) on Friday and the Color Block Polo in Gamma Green ($60) on Sunday. He will finish his look with the Nike Flat Bill hat and the Nike Lunar Control footwear.
